Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28, 1952) is an American stage actor and TV actress. Her most well-known role is her role as the protagonist of Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves. Other noteworthy roles include President Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica and the president's wife from Independence Day as well as Donnie's Mother in Donnie's Darko.
